Project Recap 5/1/2021

 

Two Projects I have worked on for the past three months are the 2009 GoAnimate Video Maker and Pico Roulette.

Thanks to Jay aka Poley Magik who helped me with both projects as well, the first one being goanimate he helped me restore functionality to the custom character themes (comedy world only functioning) and Pico RPS, an expanded online version of the game Pico VS The Uberkids. He helped me understand the server protocol. 

Since I haven't reviewed the code for how UGC assets were
handled back then, no characters load.

I was planning on rewriting the rest of the backend I currently use for getting this version of GoAnimate working (known as Wrapper 2) however I currently do not plan on releasing this for reasons I'd rather not explain.

Pico Roulette is a Newgrounds game made for Pico Day 2007, Pico Roulette shut was deactivated in 2013 and the game servers have since been shut down.

reverse engineering JSON parsing.

The backend recreation itself is not complete as I have been busy with work and personal life. If I ever get time however I will continue and make it available. The game servers communicated over a socket connection which is probably why the game shut down so quickly.
